Permits for Groups |
For travel within the Boundary Waters
Canoe Area Wilderness, your group is
required to have a permit in your
possession at all times whether on an
overnight or day trip. There is a
maximum of 9 persons/4 canoes allowed to
travel and camp together on one permit.
Therefore, if you have a large number of
youth, you will have to break into
groups of nine including a leader.
Overnight use permits must be
reserved in advance.
We will be happy to reserve your BWCA
permit for you.
To check for availability you can
call us or you can check on the BWCAW
Reservations Web site at www.bwcaw.org
Permits
are issued on a
first-come, fist-served
basis, so we need to
reserve your permit as
soon as you know your
plans. We will reserve
your permit when we
receive a credit card
number over the telephone. The
nonrefundable
reservation fee is
$12.00 per permit
issued. There is a user
fee of $10.00 (adult)
and $5.00 (child 17 and
under) per visit. The
deposit paid for all
groups will be $20.00
regardless of group
size. Any adjustments
for more or less will be
initiated at the time
the permit is picked up.
If you make your own
permit reservation and
are outfitting with us,
it is more convenient
for you to request the
permit be sent to
Rockwood Outfitters
rather than the Gunflint
Ranger District.
Lakeside
terrace bunkrooms
offer a good nights
sleep before or after
your trip. Your
comfortable, private
room is fully carpeted
with each room having
its own bathroom and
shower, and a great view
of Poplar lake. Each
bunkroom can sleep up to
9 people, larger groups
must reserve more than
one bunkroom.
