Hiking

Hiking is a great way to see a different side of the Boundary Waters, and Rockwood Lodge is close to many great trails. Whether you are looking for an afternoon in the woods or a week-long backpacking adventure, we can help you experience the “dry” side of the BWCA

Border Route Trail map is for sale at Rockwood and online through the North Country Trail Association.

The South Lake Trail begins at our doorstep and travels 3.5 miles north to the shores of South Lake along the Canadian Border, connecting to the Border Route Trail as well as several loops and side trails. From Partridge Lake to South Lake the trail is overgrown by Alder bushes and tough to follow. Read my post here: https://www.rockwoodbwca.com/south-lake-trail-april-30-2016/
